Yosemite Facelift 2023

In September of 2023, the 20th anniversary of the Yosemite Facelift was hosted by the Yosemite Climbing Association. My team at The Landmark Project and I had the opportunity to fly from South Carolina to California as the tshirt sponsor for this years cleanup where we met up with our amazing PR team and content creators.

There were 1,500 volunteers in the Yosemite Valley that week with an astounding 10,432 lbs of trash collected from within the park as part of this years cleanup. Our team had the privilege of working in the Ahwahnee Meadow, planting hundreds of Sedges back into the grassland as the last push of restoration in this region of the valley.

Meeting people from all over the country in this beautifully natural cathedral felt nothing short of honoring to the land and creation. Every breath I took in and each direction I’d gaze left me in awe of the vastness of this land. It’s hard to believe a place as wild and expansive as this could feel the affects of human hands, but knowing we all played a part of bringing this space back to the esteem it’s due was the highlight of our trip.

The Landmark Project team had the privilege to be a part of something truly special and participated in a special project – the Ahwahnee Meadow Planting. Our team spent the morning in the meadow planting Sedges into the ground in the Southwest corner of Ahwahnee Meadow to help with the meadow restoration, 331 native vegetative plants to be exact!
